Women Photographing Women – Federica Cavazzi

Written by Artemide De Blanc and Anna Antonelli

A woman knows how to play with provocation. She has that exquisitely feminine attitude to mischief with a flash of joy in her gaze. Kind of like the role-playing that went on as children, playing the characters of the adult world. Here, too, on the proscenium, there is the whole liturgy of the play: a tulle jumpsuit with a stardust effect, a perturbing mask, stiletto heels as vertiginous as the seductive potential, a riding crop displayed like this, as an icon of power sublimated into sensuality.

Here, in this world of beauty, woman can declare “I am” without fear of being denied, vilified, reduced to silence as unfortunately happens in other spheres. Photography gives her back her role as a creature capable of communicating with the universe, which society tries but fails to attribute to her.

We continue to play, hoping that by translation the magnificence of the feminine can substantiate itself in reality.
